NTL, the British cable operator, introduced a so-called quadruple-play package, adding a cellphone offering to its other services in the first major step to try to deliver on the promise of its Virgin Mobile acquisition. NTL, which also recently merged with a cable rival, Telewest, to compete with the satellite operator BSkyB, is bundling television, high-speed Internet, fixed-line and cellphone services for £40, or $76, a month.
